National Seminar on Corporate Social Responsibility
was orgainsed on 2nd April 2003. Chairman
UGC and Chairperson on the occasion was
Prof. Shashi Bhudhiraha, Senior Advisor
to UN Global Compact program.
The Event aimed at providing the right platform
and the interface for the Intelligentsia,
the Industry and the Academia to define
the scope of Corporate social Responsibility
and the means & modes of its delivery
to the society.
Dr. Arun Nigvekar in his inaugural address
identified the opportunity of the present
generation to witness the change in the
century and also the change in the Millennium
which has thrown open very significant and
drastic changes. The thrust of CSR being,
servicing the 7 segments for the society,
viz., Consumers, Stakeholders, Other Industries
and the Nation as a whole.
Prof. Shashi Budhiraja in his speech identified
Corporate as the First Citizen of its nation
and the need to know its obligations towards
society. Quoting noted Industrialist Ratan
Tata “Welfare of Community is linked
with corporate success and is the duty of
the corporate community, no more, no less”. |
