The
Fundamental’s Funda
(it Worked for me, it will
work for you as well)
Sixteen year of learning. To be summed up in a
single sentence: “only if you do the basics
right it would determine your company”s
success or failure.”
A number of management conceptions and tools have
been flooding the market. From Iso-9000 certifications
to SWOT analysis, core competence, knowledge management….
The list is endless. In the concluding scrutiny,
many of these yield substandard results.
Attention to the fundamentals is inevitable for
endurance. As a universal decree, the more stylish
and multifaceted the technique for carrying out
changes, the bigger the chance for breakdown.
If you yourself have trouble understanding them,
I can bet that your people will have snag understanding
them too.
Make sure the populace you work with have a clear
understanding of the systems and the definite
role they have to play. A lack of transparency
on who is liable for what is the single biggest
cause of crashes.
To be successful, take the reads, which have been
less traveled by, and remember to, “Fix
the problem instead of fixing the blame”
and believe me you will come out as a true winner.
There is no substitute for sincerity and hard
work….
All the valuable management ideologies k know
are quite simple and easy to understand. And these
ideologies are universal. They work in every type
of organization-hospital, school, retail firm,
bank or production plant- and almost everywhere.
These simple universal management ideas are rarely
found in management textbooks. They are generally
learnt from people closest to you: your teacher,
your grandmother, even the small kid playing in
your locality park could be your source. You need
to be alert to learn the fundamentals on a daily
basis. Most of us learn from our own errors. From
today onwards try to learn from other person’s
mistakes too and that will add up to your knowledge
and then you would be vigilant enough, not to
make the same mistakes again.
The trouble is that a lot of populace don’t
like fundamentals. They look for programmatic
enchantment stick that they can gesticulate. Such
people forget the fact that if a calculator costing
just Rs. 50 can do the same job efficiently for
them then why do they need to shell out money
to purchase a computer costing a whopping Rs.
50,000.
So many of us have been used to shun from “basics”
in all aspects of our existence, that starting
to look at them again is not going to be easy.
In my opinion it is never too late to make a sincere
beginning. Since again the law of basics proves
it:

a single step”
